Here are some ideas that were sent to us:
For EDL 2009 Europe Direct Komotini has already designed a series of actions entitled “Poliglossoupoli” (translation in EN would be: “Multilingual city”) where students, young pupils and school teachers will have the opportunity, through interactive and imaginative activities to discover the linguistic richness of the EU and to identify common features between the different languages, belonging to the same linguistic family.
Some of the activities which are included in “Poliglossoupoli” and could be realised in your country are:
- a PowerPoint presentation about the importance of EDL, the Multilingualism, Director General of Interpretation and DG of Translation of European Commission
- exhibition with covers of comic-books from all member-states of EU entitled “EU ComiCrossing”
- role-playing games
- ground game in which the students separated into two teams will have to put some comic-book covers in the respective country or group of countries/ depending on which linguistic family they belong
- activity sheets (crosswords, acrostic, coloring-pages etc.)
At the end of these activities will be distributed to the participants publications, leaflets, post-cards and posters of the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities about Multilingualism, and languages in Europe.
Furthermore, a great challenge for promoting EDL in our region is the MEDIA. Throughout the week radio-spots about the importance of EDL will be broadcasted by radio stations and articles about the EDL and Multilingualism are going to be published in local newspapers.

At Terakki Schools we celebrate The European Language Day every year. This year's activitities for 1st Grade will include singing songs in different languages and learning to say "Hello" in other languages. Our 2nd Grades will learn challenging Tongue Twisters in English and other languages. They will also prepare cards using multilingual sayings. The 3rd Grades will have an International Day. On that day they will learn about other countries, cultures and languages. They are going to listen to the sample music from these countries as well.

Pourquoi?............
(création poétique en production d'écrit)
