Contest theme: Language learning in action!
 
The EDL Photo Contest 2014 is intended to illustrate language learning in action in different environments. The competition is open to persons of all ages living in all Council of Europe member states and observer states. The ECML will use the best photos for promotional purposes.

Here's how the contest works

Contestants hereby agree to submit their entries under the following terms and conditions:

Submission period: Your photo(s) should be uploaded between 14 September 2014 and 14 November 2014 on this page. All photos will be visible after 15 November 2014.

Voting period: Online voting will be from 15 November 2014 to 15 December 2014 after which the winners will be announced on 18 December.

Photos: The photo(s) should represent your experience of learning languages. Your upload needs to contain the following information: title, name of the contestant, email, age, country and place photo was taken.

Photo format: Images should be no smaller than 2000 pixels in width or height. No watermarks, signatures, or copyright notices may be added to images.

Voting procedure: The ECML will post all your photos and descriptions on the ECML’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ecml.celv. Then, you and other visitors to our Facebook page can vote for your favourite.

Winner selection: The 3 photos from different photographers with the most votes by 15 December 2014 will be declared the Viewers' Choice Winners of the contest.

Prizes: There will be prizes for first, second and third to be announced shortly. A small prize will be awarded for all photos that are subsequently used by the ECML.

ECML use of the photos: Entrants authorise the ECML to use the photos for promotional purposes, in whole or in part, without compensation. The photos used will be credited with the name of the photographer wherever published.

Other terms and conditions:
(i) Photos must be appropriate for posting on the website of the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe (www.ecml.at). Obscene, inappropriate or otherwise questionable content will not be considered. Our services retain sole discretion as to what constitutes inappropriate content.
(ii) Photos must be the original work of the entrant.
(iii) Entrants have obtained all rights, permissions and licenses necessary to use the entries for any purpose. 
(iv) No entry or any part thereof infringes any trademark or copyright or otherwise violates anyone’s right of privacy or publicity.
(v) Entrants indemnify and hold harmless ECML from any claims, suits, losses, damages and expenses that arise from any breach of the following conditions.
(vi) Any minor participating in the contest must submit along with the picture he or she presents written permission signed by parents or legal guardians, stating that they have read the rules and authorise the minor's participation in photo contest.
