A platform where users engage in social activities through chatting and status-updates, sharing of information and photographs, and creating of profiles. A place for establishing communities and groups. You can add a poll on the wall of a group to ask for their opinions.

Evaluation: One of the most dominant social media tools among adolescents, adults, professionals etc. Useful to facilitate language use between students through authentic social activities. Private groups can be created to avoid blurring the lines between pedagogical and personal use. Teachers can share subject-specific material and ideas by creating topic-related groups. They can also use it as a fast way to distribute materials and tasks to students who check their Facebook accounts on a frequent basis. Facebook is a high-profile social networking site, and privacy may be a concern especially for underage students. Users need to be familiar with privacy settings before posting any content.
