Saying hello to influencers

Language Day, 25 Sep 2020 - 25 Sep 2020, Morón de la Frontera, Spain

Globalisation and business make citizens increasingly in need of foreign language skills to work effectively. By learning other languages, we understand each other better and overcome our cultural differences. The celebration of the European Day of Languages in our school will reach the following targets. 1. Foster the importance of language learning in order to increase plurilingualism and intercultural understanding; 2. Promote the linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe. 3. Encourage lifelong language learning in and out of school, whether for study purposes, for professional needs, for purposes of mobility or for pleasure. Our aim is to motivate our students in the learning-adquisition process. We are programming some activities to reach this goal. 1. Decoration of our school with rollups, banners, poster, stickers and flyers to promote this event and advertising in social media and local radio. 2. Students will search the Internet for information about European influencers on the website and they will guess the different ways to say hello and introduce themselves when they first meet (shaking hands, kissing each other..)in common situations in different European countries and elaborate a powerpoint about it (European countries, flags and greetings). 3. They will work with the Handbook of Language Challenges and finally students will record a video about their experiences at learning languages and what to do to get more involved in practising it. 4. We will publish all our products in our website and school social media.
