Languages for Peace: Metaphoric LanguageWeb 'Feather', 'Salt' & 'drops'

 Workshop, 19 Set. 2024 - 26 Set. 2024, Vienna, Austria

The workshop session follows the sustainable development approach in communication within a multilingual, inclusive setting. The goal is to explore how understanding the symbolic meaning of individual terms like "feather," "salt," and "drop" in various languages can help make our communication culture more peaceful and mindful. In this workshop, we will learn how to make our communication gentle and empathetic through the metaphorical symbolism of feathers, how to deepen conversations by appropriately applying the "salt," symbolically used to refine, emphasize, and clarify statements, and how to shape individual "speech drops" more mindfully before they fall and potentially cause harm. We will practice how to prevent harm, both in real and digital spaces.
