Developments in Professional/Academic Communication and Implications for Language Education and Research

The 14th international AELFE conference will explore the new roles acquired by language education and research in the context of growing professional and academic mobility, in parallel with the trend towards the internationalization of Higher Education.
Papers are invited in the following thematic areas: (1) Research in the field of languages for professional and academic purposes; (2.) Language and culture learning for better professional and academic performance in a global context; (3) Innovative practices in LSP teaching and learning; (4) English / French / German as media of instruction and academic communication: challenges and opportunities of internationalisation; (5.) Revisiting teacher competencies and professional development; (6) The Quality dimension of language education and language planning in Higher Education / Adult Education; (7.) Translation studies – interconnections between research, the relevance of academic programmes, and performance quality.
Confirmed Plenary Speakers: Maurizio Gotti (Univ. of Bergamo), Sarah Aitken (Eaquals), Christine Feak (Univ. of Michigan), Karen Bennett (Univ. of Lisbon), Nigel Harwood (Univ. of Sheffield).
Important Dates: Submission of abstracts: till 30 March 2015; Notification of acceptance: by 25 April; Registration: till 1 June 2015.

Vote for this year’s most innovative event!  

To add a further element of spice to the Day, anyone visiting the website can vote for what they regard as the most innovative EDL event. This can be due to its creativity, transferability or just because it truly represents the spirit of the Day. Voting will be open for one month, from 20 September – 20 October, with the winner to be announced in December. There will be a small prize for the organizer of the event which receives the most votes.
