European Day of Languages 2015, Belgrade, Serbia

Language teaching and learning, 26 Sep 2015, Belgrade, Serbia

Under the auspices of EUNIC, several cultural centres (Austrian Institute, Goethe , Institute, Institute Français, Hellenic Foundation for Culture, Instituto Cervantes, Italian Cultural Institute and British Council) in partnership with the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade will mark the European Day of Languages 2015 at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade. The event will be two-fold: one part wil be dedicated to wider audience and language learning and the other part to language teachers and students through workshops.

Prior to the day itself, there will be on-line singing competition (singing selfie video of 30 seconds), in different languages. The idea is to keep the competition open for two weeks at the beginning of September on the EUNIC Facebook page and the winner will be the video with biggest number of likes on FB.

On the European Day of Languages all cultural centres, including CoE Office in Belgrade and EU Office, will have stands in the hall of the faculty, offering information and promotion and other material to teachers, students and wider public interested in language learning.

On 26 September, marking of EDL will officially be opened by the Head of CoE Office in Belgrade, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Dean of the Faculty, Heads of above mentioned cultural centres and well-known linguist in Serbia, Ivan Klajn. This year, the speeches will evolve around acronyms and foreign words.

Cultural centres will have workshops throughout the day at the Faculty for the language teachers and students. It is estimated that around 500 participants, teachers and students, will attend the workshops provided by the cultural Centres.
