EDL Language Café

 Language Day, 30 sen 2025 - 30 sen 2025, Stockholm, Sweden

600 school pupils aged 13-18 get 45 minutes to receive mini lessons in around 25 European languages, take a quiz with questions about all the represented languages, and can win prizes if they do well in the quiz. In this EDL event, which recurs annually since 2010, we also invite the winner of the national proverb-rebus competition to come and join us for a short prize ceremony where the Head of the EU Commission Representation awards the prize and glory to the winner, and the 2nd and 3rd prize recipients also receive their awards.

Struggling to find ideas for an event for this year’s European Day of Languages? It can be challenging to organise events that are fun, inclusive, have an educational element and motivate a large number of people. Vote for this year’s most innovative event!  

To add a further element of spice to the Day, anyone visiting the website can vote for what they regard as the most innovative EDL event. This can be due to its creativity, transferability or just because it truly represents the spirit of the Day. Voting will be open for one month, from 20 September – 20 October, with the winner to be announced in December. There will be a small prize for the organizer of the event which receives the most votes.

The event received 1900+ votes and was organised by Lycée Alfred Mézières de Longwy, France.
