The Journey of Words: From Ancient Greece to Europe and Beyond

Open doors, 26 сеп 2025, Piraeus, Гърция

This event will explore how languages are deeply connected across Europe. Starting from the legacy of ancient Greece — with Homer’s epics, the birth of democracy, philosophy, and theatre — participants will discover how Greek words and ideas travelled through time and shaped many European languages. At the same time, the event will highlight how all languages enrich one another, from Italian’s opera and French’s ballet to German’s kindergarten and English’s computer. To bridge the past with the future, the event will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for interactive activities. Participants will trace the journey of words across multiple languages, engage in AI-powered quizzes and translation challenges, and create multilingual digital word clouds. By combining ancient roots with modern technology, the event aims to celebrate the richness of Europe’s linguistic diversity and show how words continue to connect cultures across time.
