European Day of Languages 2022

 Language classes, 26 Sep 2022 - 06 Oct 2022, Felgueiras, Portugal

We will celebrate the European Day of Languages and the World Postcard Day (1st October), enhancing the idea that language awareness/learning is a tool for peace, tolerance, understanding and respect, which fosters international dialogue. The children (7-10 y.o.) will look at the map of Europe and explore language diversity through the quiz “39 languages, 48 countries”, as well as the posters "20 things you might not know about Europe's languages" and "20 things you might not know about the world of languages". Then we will display these in the classroom. We will also read some pages of the book "Children of the world” (Nicola Edwards and Andrea Stegmaier) related to languages. Following these activities, we will request some addresses (Postcrossing) and send some postcards for World Postcard Day with messages in Portuguese and English (the official postcard for the World Postcard Day 2022 here: https://www.postcrossing.com/blog/2022/08/15/world-postcard-day-2022-official-postcard). In each English class during these two weeks, we will sing the song “Hello to all the children of the world”.
