European Day of Languages 2023 at Katkin park

At Katkin park, we will dedicate 2 classes to the activities related to EDJ. During the first class, teachers will familiarize students with basic info about the European Day of Languages ​​using a presentation. They will then play sample recordings of 15 selected European languages.: 1. Slovenian, 2. Ukrainian, 3. Turkish , 4. Icelandic, 5. Romanian, 6. Croatian , 7. Greek , 8. Irish , 9. Hungarian, 10. Dutch , 11. Italian , 12. Polish , 13. Danish, 14. Portuguese, 15. Latvian. The students guess what language it may be and jot down their answers. Afterwards, the teacher will read the correct answers for them to check the quiz. When checking the correct answers, the teacher shows the students a presentation containing fun facts about the selected languages. The second lesson will be devoted to idioms in the languages ​​taught at Katka park - Slovak, English, German and Spanish. The students will be divided into groups. Each student chooses one idiom from an envelope (English/ German/ Spanish) and draws it on the whiteboard, explains or shows it to the students from other teams who are try to guess the idiom. One student from a group is allowed to use a computer as an aid. Afterwards, they need to find its Slovak equivalent. A team with the most points wins.
