EDL Košice 2024

We are excited to hold a European Day of Languages (EDL) event in Košice, Slovakia's second-largest city. This celebration will build on the tradition of cooperation between DGT's Slovak Language Department and the local University's Department of Translation Studies. Event Highlights: EUNIC Cluster Contributions: Stands, staff, and activities including storytime corners, quizzes, mini-lessons, and creative arts and crafts workshops in various foreign languages. EU Enlargement Visual Materials: Including the "Wheel of Fortune" game with quiz questions about EU countries, and a presentation and quiz on the 2004 EU enlargement, with prizes such as promotional items and book vouchers. Interactive Language Game: Vortoj, a popular game that combines dancing and language learning through interactive quizzes on electronic dancing mats. Afternoon Discussion: Held at Café Minerva, focusing on languages and EU accession. Topics will include the impact on Slovak terminology, corpora, and language resources, with contributions from the SK Field Office, an EU freelance interpreter, and a faculty lecturer of EU terminology. Join us in Košice for a day of language celebration and cultural exchange.
