Giornata Europea delle Lingue - Languages for History: Travelling Men and Women

On 26 September 2024 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. the 24th European Day of Languages will be held in Venice, Veneto. This year's theme is “Languages for History: Travelling Men and Women”, celebrating linguistic and cultural plurality in Europe and involving the general public, in particular male and female students from the schools of the Veneto Region and Ca' Foscari University, in various educational activities for the acquisition of several languages and cultural awareness. The event, which is open to the public, includes a series of engaging activities for all ages. Among the proposals are conferences, performances, award ceremonies, interactive workshops and meetings with experts in the language sector, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of language learning. The Europe Direct Venezia Veneto office of the Venice City Council is the national contact point for the European Day of Languages for the European Centre for Modern Languages of the Council of Europe in Graz, and collaborates for the 2024 edition with the Ca' Foscari University of Venice with its Department of Comparative Linguistic and Cultural Studies and its CLA Centro Linguistico di Ateneo, the USR Veneto Regional School Office, the Italian office of the Council of Europe, the Mazzotti Foundation, the Marciana National Library and the Marco Polo Committee for the 700th anniversary of the death of the famous Venetian traveller.
