Languages lead our hearts and minds to knowledge

 School project, 26 sept 2025 - 31 dets 2025, Thessaloniki, Kreeka

Our school celebrated the European Day of Languages by playing games suggested by the official webpage and games that the school teachers organized. Moreover, the school implemented an action related to the European Day of Languages by doing a special activity. The activity was based on an interdisciplinary worksheet on the occasion of a tour of Aristotelous Square and the Roman Forum. The students searched for inscriptions and signs in various foreign languages, answered a historical knowledge quiz about the Roman Forum and exploited the use of European languages, and in particular Latin-derived languages, in combination with the Latin language in an informational text about the Roman Agora/Forum of Thessaloniki. Moreover, they identified foreign historical and commercial terms as well as landmarks, translated sports terms related to sports that can be played around our school, recorded the menu of nearby restaurants in different languages and played a translation game with everyday words and expressions in different European languages. Additionally, the students translated religious terms into various European languages. The synthesis of the collected material will lead to the creation of a tourist guide or poster that will present the sights that can be seen and the options that a tourist has in the area around the school. Teachers in charge of the action: 1) Damtsi Efthymia (Teacher of English), 2) Douramani Georgia (Religion teacher and School Headmistress), 3) Papastergiopoulou Panagiota (Philologist), 4) Siozou Maria (Philologist), 5) Tsaknaki Sophia (Philologist) 6) Vassilopoulou Marouda (IT teacher).

Selleks et keeltepäeva veelgi põnevamaks teha, on kõigil meie veebisaidi külastajatel võimalus hääletada keeltepäeva ürituse poolt, mida nad peavad kõige uuenduslikumaks. Uuenduslikkuse all võib silmas pidada ürituse loovust, ülekantavust või lihtsalt seda, et see annab päeva mõtet suurepäraselt edasi. Hääletamine on avatud ühe kuu jooksul: 20. septembrist 20. oktoobrini. Võitja kuulutatakse välja detsembris. Kõige rohkem hääli kogunud ürituste korraldajatele on väike auhind.
