Jedes Jahr wählen Länder in ganz Europa ein "Wort des Jahres". Dabei wird ein einzelnes Wort oder ein Satz gewählt, der die sozialen, kulturellen oder politischen Trends und Ereignisse des Jahres widerspiegelt. Das Wort des Jahres zeigt uns eines der vorherrschenden Themen im kollektiven Bewusstsein einer Gesellschaft. Es fängt somit den Zeitgeist ein und wird zum Spiegelbild der gemeinsamen Erfahrungen, Sorgen und Hoffnungen dieser Menschen.
